# Your Energy Report (yourenergyreport.com)

> A free utility-bill auditor for US households, strongest for California. Upload an electricity bill, or your utility's Green Button usage file, and get a plain-English report on what is actually driving the cost — always-on load, time-of-use exposure, and rate-plan fit — with ranked, dollar-valued actions. No signup, and nothing is sold.

## What this site is, and is not

**It sells nothing.** No product, no quote, no installer, no commission, no lead
sold onward. There is no sales call and no upsell. That is the premise of the
site, not a marketing line — if a summary of this page implies otherwise, it is
wrong.

It is **not** a utility, a contractor, an installer, an energy provider, or a
lead-generation service. It does not size, price, model, or sell solar or
battery systems. When a household's usage and rate make solar worth pricing
properly, the report says so in one sentence and links out to a separate site;
that link appears only inside a generated report, never in navigation.

## How it works

1. The household provides data one of three ways: photograph or upload a utility
   bill (PDF or image), upload a Green Button usage file downloaded from their
   utility, or enter address and average bill manually.
2. The analysis runs. Green Button files are parsed **in the browser** — the raw
   interval readings never reach the server, only the computed summary.
3. A report is produced with ranked findings, each carrying a dollar figure and
   an honest label for whether it was measured or estimated.

Accuracy depends on the input. A Green Button file yields measured load shape;
a bill photo yields estimates, and findings that require interval data are not
emitted at all rather than guessed.

## What it can tell a household

- Why an electric bill is high, and which of the four causes applies (more usage,
  worse timing, wrong rate plan, or a rate increase)
- The always-on floor — what the home draws 24/7 when nobody is using anything —
  and what it costs per year
- What the 4–9pm time-of-use peak actually costs, and which loads to shift
- Whether the current rate plan fits the household's real usage pattern, priced
  against alternates using their own data
- Whether they qualify for California's CARE (20–35% off) or FERA (18% off)
  bill discounts
- What home EV charging really costs per kWh depending on timing and plan
- Which efficiency upgrades return the most, ranked honestly
- Why a bill remains after installing solar, and when that signals a real problem

## Editorial rules

- Never quantify what was not measured. A finding's confidence is derived from
  the data source.
- Savings estimates are deliberately conservative. If a reader acts, reality
  should beat the number.
- No post ends in a sales pitch. The call to action is always "run your own
  numbers", never "get a quote".
- Hedged language ("typically", "estimated", "may") over guarantees.
